Lynch and Ammons to Play in SCBL All-Star Game

Hartsville, S.C. – Coker College baseball players, Trey Lynch (Florence, SC) and Matt Ammons (Chester, SC) have been selected to the 2009 Southern Collegiate Baseball League (SCBL) South All-Star Team. They will represent their SCBL team, the Carolina Chaos, on Saturday, July 11 in the All-Star game at Russell C. King Field at Wofford College.

Lynch and Ammons, rising seniors for the Cobras, are two of nine players selected from the Chaos. Lynch will play in the outfield, while Ammons will be in the infield.

In 22 games this summer Lynch is second on the team in hitting, batting .333, with a team leading 15 RBIs, two home runs, four triples, seven doubles and 10 runs scored. Ammons has played in 21 games and is batting .279 with five RBIs, 13 runs scored and five stolen bases.

In addition to being named to the All-Star team, both Lynch and Ammons have been named Carolina Chaos players of the week this summer. Also, playing for the Chaos are fellow Cobras Brian Luchsinger (Farmingville, NY) and Jonathan Gainey (Hartsville, SC).

The SCBL is a collegiate summer wooden bat league, featuring teams from North and South Carolina and Tennessee. Teams play a 42 game schedule from June until the beginning of August with the top six teams advancing to the League Championship Tournament. For more information on the SCBL visit www.scbl.org.
