Cobra Spotlight- Kyria Borelli, Women's Tennis

The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with them. This week we take a look at Heather Blaschke, a member of the women's soccer team.

Name: Kyria Mariam Barros Borelli

Sport: Tennis

Position: Freshman

Hometown: Poio, Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain

Year: Freshman

Major: Biology

Why did you choose Coker? Coker was the first of four American colleges to show interest and contact me. I ended up choosing Coker because it was small, I liked the tennis team and most importantly there was Zumba!!!

What is your best memory at Coker (athletic related)? My best memory athletically would be all the evening training sessions with my teammates to improve our game.

What is your best memory at Coker (non-athletic related)? I have so many good memories. One of my favorites would be the Foam Dance Party because I met new people, danced and had fun.

Which athletic team would you play on at Coker other than your own? I would play women’s basketball or lacrosse.

Favorite class: Chemistry, because it is really easy and I enjoy the class when I understand everything.

Favorite professor: Dr. Joe Flaherty

Plans after graduation:  I would like to eventually become a doctor and live in California, Florida, Australia, New Zealand or South America if it gets better.

Favorite movie: I don’t have a favorite movie, but I love scary movies and the ones about teenage love.

Favorite type of music: Pop music

Favorite food: My grandma’s food

Favorite sports team: Real Madrid, of course.

Favorite color: I don’t have a favorite color; it would be unfair for the other colors.

Favorite TV show: Aliados

Most prized possession: My secret diary

What is something people may not know about you? I was born in Venezuela, moved to Spain, but I am Italian too.

Do you have a nickname? If so, how did you get it? I did not have a nickname until I got to Coker. A few teammates call me Kitty Kat. They say it is because my name sounds like KitKat, but it makes no sense to me though.

One word that describes you: Nervous
