Spotlight
The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete
at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a
different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with

Women’s Basketball
- This week’s games:
- Thursday at 5:30 p.m. (A) – Belmont Abbey
- Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (A) – Erskine
- Last week’s games:
- Pfeiffer (L) – 83-54
- King (W) – 73-63
- The Cobra women’s basketball team picked up another
Conference Carolinas victory last week, 73-63 over King, to improve
to 7-5 in league play and move into a tie for fifth place in the
conference standings. This week they will hit the road for a pair
of league games at Belmont Abbey and Erskine. Coker has already
defeated Erskine once this season, 61-49, back on Jan. 3.
Men’s Basketball
- This week’s games:
- Thursday at 7:30 p.m. (A) – Belmont Abbey
- Saturday at 4:00 p.m. (A) - Erskine
- Last week’s games:
- Pfeiffer (W) – 64-51
- King (W) – 79-70
- The Coker men extended their winning streak to three games with
a pair of conference victories last week over Pfeiffer (64-51) and
King (79-70). Currently, the Cobras are tied for fifth in the
league standings with a record of 6-5. This week they will travel
to Belmont Abbey and Erskine. Earlier this season they defeated
Erskine, 79-74, on Jan. 3.
Men’s Volleyball
- This week’s matches:
- Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. (A) – Mount Olive
- Friday at 7:00 p.m. (A) – King
- Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (A) – Lees-McRae
- Last week’s matches:
- Rust (L) – 3-2
- Alderson-Broadus (W) – 3-1 – Exhibition
- After an abbreviated opening weekend, the Coker men’s
volleyball team will begin Conference Carolinas play this week with
three road matches at Mount Olive, King and Lees-McRae.
Baseball
- This week’s games:
- Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (A) – Chowan (DH)
- Sunday at 12:00 p.m. (A) – Chowan (DH)
- The Cobra baseball team will hit the road to open their 2013
season this weekend with a four game series at Chowan University.
The Cobras are picked to finish eighth in the Conference Carolinas
preseason poll.
Women’s Golf
- This week’s tournaments:
- Tusculum Kiawah Invitational at Kiawah Island – Feb.
2-3
- The women’s golf team will open their 2013 spring
schedule this week at the Tusculum Kiawah Invitational. Last season
the women finished 14th at the Tusculum Kiawah
Invitational.
Men’s and Women’s Tennis
- This week’s matches:
- Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (A) – Anderson
- The men’s and women’s tennis teams will begin their
2013 seasons this week by traveling to Anderson University on
Saturday. This will be the first time the Cobras and the Trojans
have faced each other since Anderson left Conference Carolinas in
2010.
