Spotlight
The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete
at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a
different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with

Men’s Soccer
- This week’s matches:
- Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. (H) – #8 seed Queens
- Friday- Conference Carolinas Tournament Semifinals- TBA
- Sunday- Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship- TBA
- Last week’s matches:
- Mount Olive (T) – 0-0 (2OT)
- Limestone (W) – 2-1
- Last week, the Coker men’s soccer team earned their
second consecutive Conference Carolinas regular season championship
with a 2-1 win over Limestone. This week the Cobras begin the
defense of their conference tournament championship. Their first
test will come on Tuesday when the Cobras host the #8 seed Queens
University of Charlotte Royals.
Women’s Soccer
- Last week’s matches:
- Mount Olive (L) – 2-0
- Limestone (L) – 2-1
- The Cobra women’s soccer season came to an end last week.
The women fell short of making the Conference Carolinas Tournament
with a ninth place finish in the league standings.
Women’s Volleyball
- This week’s matches:
- Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (H) – Belmont Abbey – Pause
for Paws Night
- Friday at 7:00 p.m. (H) – Emmanuel (Ga.)
- Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (A) - Converse
- Last week’s matches:
- UNC Pembroke (W) – 3-2
- Mount Olive (W) – 3-0
- Barton (L) – 3-1
- This week the women’s volleyball team will play their
final regular season matches of the season. Currently, the Cobras
are in third place in the East Division of the Conference Carolinas
standings. The top four teams from each division advance to the
conference tournament. A win in one of the Cobras’ final two
conference matches will secure their place in the tournament.
Wednesday’s match is sponsored by Pause for Paws. They will
be hosting a costume contest between the second and third sets for
the best costume. Fans are encouraged to come dressed in their best
family friendly costume.
Men’s & Women’s Cross
Country
- This week’s meet:
- NCAA Southeast Regional at Charlotte, N.C. – Nov. 3
- Following a week of rest and preparation, the Coker cross
country teams will head to Charlotte, N.C. to run in the NCAA
Southeast Regional on Saturday, Nov. 3
Men’s Golf
- This week’s tournaments:
- Matt Dyes Invitational at Carrollton, Ga. – Oct.
29-30
- This week the nationally ranked No. 10 Cobras will hit the
links for their final tournament of the season. The men will be
looking to cap off a sensational fall season in this final
tournament.
Women’s Basketball
- This week’s games:
- Sunday at 2:00 p.m. (A) - Tennessee
- This week the Coker women’s basketball team takes the
floor for their first game of the season. On Sunday, the Cobras
will take the floor against the preseason No. 20 Volunteers of
Tennessee in a preseason exhibition game. Fans will be able to
watch the game live online at http://www.utsports.com/allaccess
Men’s Basketball
- This week’s games:
- Thursday at 7:00 p.m. (A) - Campbell
- Like their female counterparts, the Coker men’s
basketball team will also play their first exhibition game of the
season this week. On Thursday, the Cobras will travel to Campbell
University to take on the top pick in the Big South Conference
preseason poll. Fans will be able to watch the game live online at
