Cobra Spotlight

The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with them. This week we take a look at Rommel Fondin, a member of the men’s soccer team. Read more…

Men’s Soccer

• This week’s matches:
  • Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (A) – Francis Marion
  • Saturday at 5:30 p.m. (A) – Lees-McRae

• Last week’s matches:
  • King (W) – 1-0
  • Pfeiffer (W) – 2-0

• Coker extended their winning streak to three with a pair of Conference Carolinas victories last week. This week the men will take on local rival Francis Marion University and conference rival Lees-McRae. Both matches will be on the road.

Women’s Soccer

• This week’s matches:
  • Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. (H) – Converse
  • Saturday at 3:00 p.m. (A) – Lees-McRae

• Last week’s matches:
  • King (L) – 1-0 (2OT)
  • Pfeiffer (L) – 3-1

• This week the Cobra women will take on two Conference Carolinas opponents, starting with Converse at home on Wednesday and finishing up with Lees-McRae on the road on Saturday.

Women’s Volleyball

• This week’s matches:
  • Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. (A) – Belmont Abbey
  • Friday at 7:00 p.m. (H) – King
  • Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – North Greenville

• Last week’s matches:
  • Francis Marion (L) – 3-0
  • Mount Olive (W) – 3-2
  • Barton (W) – 3-1

• The volleyball team continued its hot play last week, winning two of their three matches. The Cobras have now won three of their last four matches. All three victories have come against Conference Carolinas teams. This week the Cobras will look to continue their winning streak with three conference matches, including two home matches on Friday and Saturday.

Men’s & Women’s Cross Country

• This week’s meet:
  • UNC Charlotte Invitational at Charlotte, N.C. – Sept. 28

• Last week’s meet:
  • None

• After a week off, the Cobra runners will hit the road once again, this time at the UNC Charlotte Invitational. This week’s meet will feature several Division I opponents, as well as Division II foes such as Anderson, Newberry, Wingate and Queens.

Men’s Golf

• This week’s tournament:
  • Jay Jennison Memorial at St. Augustine, Fla. - Sept. 24-25

• Last week’s tournament:
  • Kiawah Island Invitational – 3rd

• After a very impressive third place finish at the Kiawah Island Invitational last week, the Cobra men’s golf team returns to the links at the Jay Jennison Memorial in St. Augustine, Fla. Hosted by Flagler College, the Jay Jennison is being held at the par 72, 7,071 yard Palencia Club. This is the first year Coker has participated in this tournament.
