HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The No. 2 seed Anderson Trojans secured their spot in the 2015 South Atlantic Softball Championship game with a 7-0 win over the No. 5 seed Newberry Wolves on Saturday (Apr. 25).
The Trojans plated runs in the first, third, fifth and sixth innings en route to the 7-0 shut out.
Lauren Rudesheim (18-6) earned the win for Anderson. She threw a complete game shut out, scattering six hits with six strikeouts.
Brittany Middleton (9-10) suffered the loss for Newberry. She gave up six runs on nine hits with two strikeouts in five innings of work.
Molly Child and Cailah Niles led the charge for Anderson at the plate. Both had a pair of home runs, while Child drove in three and Niles drove in two. Courtney Czentnar also drove in two runs with a double.
Leading the Wolves at the plate was Allison Van Alta with a pair of hits. Mallory Gerndt, Ann Dee Priest, Hailey Drawe and Cassie Harrell each had a hit as well for Newberry.
Anderson moves on to face the No. 3 seed Catawba in the championship game on Sunday (Apr. 26) at 1 p.m. Newberry’s season comes to a close with a record of 31-22.
