Smith Tosses No Hitter to Lead LMU Past Anderson
Lincoln Memorial's Samantha Smith tossed a no hitter to lead the Railsplitters past Anderson 8-0.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Samantha Smith tossed a complete game no-hit shutout to lead the No. 7 seed Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters to an 8-0 win in five innings over the No. 2 seed Anderson Trojans in game two of the South Atlantic Conference Softball Championship on Thursday (Apr. 23).
Smith (11-11) threw five scoreless and hitless innings of softball with six strikeouts to earn the win for LMU.
Anderson’s Chelsea Jones (14-5) suffered the loss. She allowed five runs on five hits in two and two-third innings of work.
Emilee Solomon and Megan Tice led the way for the Railsplitters at the plate. Solomon finished the day 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Tice was 1-for-3 with a grand slam home run, four RBIs and a run scored.
Lincoln Memorial advances to face Catawba in a winners bracket game on Friday (Apr. 24) at 10 a.m. Anderson will face Lenoir-Rhyne in an elimination game on Friday at 10 a.m.
