Evans was 2-4 on the day, with 2 RBI’s, a triple and a run scored. Also going 2-4 for the Gray Team was Ryan Schaeffer, with a double and a run scored. Ben Davidson was 2-2, with a double, triple and a walk.
Holding down the defense was pitchers Seth Weinberg and Stephen Dill. Weinberg allowed 7 hits, 3 runs, 3 strikeouts and 2 walks over five innings. Dill threw two innings, not allowing a hit or run through seven batters, with one strikeout and earning the win for the Gray team.
The Blue team was led by Tom Hamilton, who’s big 2 out, 2 run homerun in the top of the fifth gave the Blue Team a short lived 3-2 lead.
Blue starter Craig Zumwinkle, threw four strong innings, allowing only four hits, two runs and two walks. Jesse Hatchel came on in relief in the fifth and threw two and a third innings, while taking the loss for the Blue Team, as his runner recorded the winning run for the Gray Team.
The Coker Baseball Team will conclude fall practices this week and then begin small group and conditioning work until semester break.
