Hartsville, SC- Coker College Head Baseball Coach Dave Schmotzer announced today that on Saturday, January 28, Coker will host its Annual Alumni Baseball Game at 1 p.m. at Tom J. New Field.


This marks the 10th anniversary of the Coker Baseball Alumni Game, with more than 150 players that have played and graduated under Coach Schmotzer’s leadership. Coach Schmotzer said, “I am very excited about this year’s game and I look forward to seeing the alumni and their families. Also for any of you alums out there reading this, I expect to see you here.”


As part of the alumni game, the Coker baseball team will be honoring the first two recipients of the Benji Blanton Endowed Scholarship, Conrad Deese of Pageland, SC, and T.J. Dawson of Conway, SC. Blanton was a former Coker baseball player who passed away in 2002. His family and friends established the scholarship in 2003 to be awarded to a Cobra baseball player from South Carolina in need of financial assistance.  The 2005-2006 recipient of the Blanton Scholarship, Dawson is a junior second baseman for the Cobras. Deese was the first recipient of the scholarship in 2004.
