Hartsville, S.C. – Coker College Head Baseball Coach, Dave Schmotzer, announced the signing of Brinley Griffin to a National Letter of Intent to play baseball for the Cobras in 2008-09.

Griffin is a native of Port St. John, Florida, where he attended Merritt Island High School and played outfield for the baseball team. While at Merritt Island, Griffin was a five-time letterman accumulating a career .355 batting average with three home runs, 46 RBIs, 22 doubles, 12 triples and 51 stolen bases. Brinley was named First Team All-Conference, Second Team All Space Coast, was named two-time Defensive Player of the Year for Merritt Island and was named Team MVP.

“We are very excited to have Brinley joining our Coker Baseball family,” said Coach Schmotzer. “We are looking for great things out of him over the next four years here with the Cobras.”

Brinley will be looking to bring the Cobras back to the top of the Conference Carolinas standings, as Coker finished the 2008 season with a 19-31 overall record, including a 10-9 victory over eventual Division II National Champion Mount Olive College.
