AUGUSTA, Ga.- Behind a stellar pitching performance by starter Matt Long and 14 hits from the Cobra offense , including three home runs in one inning, the Coker baseball team defeated the Augusta State Jaguars 11-6 on Wednesday afternoon in collegiate baseball.

Coker (4-1) used a four run eighth inning that included solo blasts from Matt Ammons (Chester, S.C.), Daniel Hiatt (Elwood, Ind.) and a two-run shot by Nick Fuoco (Palm Bay, Fla.) to propel them past Augusta State (2-3).

Long (Florence, S.C.) (2-0) earned his second win of the year, with a extremely strong performance on the mound for Coker. He allowed just two runs on three hits with two strike outs in six innings of work.

Ammons finished the day 2-for-4 with the home run, an RBI and run scored, while Fuoco was 1-for-4 with the homer, two RBIs and two runs scored. Hiatt was also 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Jordan Buenting (Ankeny, Iowa) and Trey Lynch (Florence, S.C.) were each 3-for-4, with Lynch driving in three runs and scoring one and Buenting plating one and scoring two.

Coker returns to action on Thursday at home, when they host the Panthers of Claflin University at 2:30 p.m. at Tom J. New Field.
