Coker's Marrero Inducted into Westminster Christian Hall of Fame

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College has added another hall of famer to its ranks this week as assistant baseball coach Ray Marrero was inducted into his high school hall of fame at Westminster Christian School in Miami, Fla. on Thursday.

Marrero was inducted into the Westminster Hall of Fame as member of the 1996 National High School Championship baseball team.  The Warriors were a perfect 36-0 in '96 winning not only the national championship, but also the Florida 2A State Title.

Also inducted into the Westminster Hall of Fame on Thursday was another national championship team, the 1992 Warrior baseball team.

Marrero, a 1998 alum, joins an elite group of hall of famers at Westminster including Major League Baseball players Alex Rodriguez, class of '93, and Doug Mientkiewicz, class of 1992.

One of just five Coker athletics staff members to be inducted into a hall of fame, Marrero joins the ranks of Dave and Dan Schmotzer, David Hanna and Dr. Katie Flaherty as a hall of famer.
