Orlando, FL- The Coker College Invitational at Orange County National concluded today with great success. “This tournament was definitely a success and it was great to host a tournament of this magnitude, with an elite field, including the top teams in the country, at a superior golf resort”, said Coker Golf Coach John Handrigan.
Florida Southern University was the big winner at the tournament, taking both the team and individual championships. As a team Florida Southern shot a 560 two day total, while Greg Koch took the individual championship with a two day total of 134, 10 under par.
The University of West Florida came in second with a team total of 564 and Rollins College and Columbus State University tied for third place, each shooting 574 for the two days. The top ten players in the tournament were named to the Coker College Invitational All-Tournament Team, Greg Koch (Florida Southern), Kevin Johnson (Delta St.), Tim Acquavia (Rollins), Blake Slaughter (St. Edwards Univ.), Marc France (Florida Southern), Matthew Galloway (West Florida), Brandon Kuban (Columbus St.), Matthew Bookatz (Lynn Univ.), Will Grace (West Florida) and Drew Pierson (Florida Gulf Coast). Twenty total players finished under par for the tournament.
Coker finished tied for 12th place with Barry University with a two day total of 598. Leading the Cobras was Vincent Dumouchel, who tied for 15th place, with a one under par 143 for the two days. He was followed by Johary Raveloarison, who finished tied for 23rd, with a two day total of 145. Finishing out the field for the Cobras were Blain Rogers (149), Benoit Gordon (153), Keith Wallace (154), Stephen Thomson (154), Gary Morgan (154) and Andrew Efird, who had the biggest improvement on the day, dropping 19 strokes from his score the previous day to finish with a total of 167.
