WILSON, N.C. – The Cobra golf team is in fifth place after the first round of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Barton College Intercollegiate at 6,851-yard, par-72 Wilson Country Club. Coker shot a team score of 298 (+10) and is just eight shots back of the leader Flagler College 290 (+2). Rounding out the top five are host Barton College 293 (+5), UNC-Pembroke 296 (+8), Queens University of Charlotte 297 (+9) and Coker.
Jake Murphy (Hamilton, N.J.) continues his hot play, he tied for second with a two under 70 in his first round. Murphy is just one stroke behind of the leader, Darren Smith of Barton. Chris Marsh (Georgetown, S.C.) is tied for 17th place with a one over 73, followed by Ben Conroy (Durham, Conn.) at 77 (+5). Jared Crane (Greer, S.C.) shot a 78 (+6) and Patrick Kirby (Paris, Ontario) shot a 81 (+9) to round out the Coker five.
