CLEMMONS, N.C.- The Coker men’s golf team completed the 2010 Conference Carolinas Championship Tournament at Tanglewood Country Club with a third place finish, shooting a three round team total of 907 (+67). Host Belmont Abbey came in first at 885 (+45) and Barton College placed second at 888 (+48).
Leading the Cobras was senior Jay Goldenberg (Toronto, Ontario), who was named to the All-Tournament team with a three round total of 226 (+16). He was followed by Jared Crane (Greer, S.C.) at 227 (+17), while Chris Marsh (Georgetown, S.C.) fired a 228 (+18). Freshmen Jake Murphy (Hamilton, N.J.) and Ben Conroy (Durham, Conn.) rounded out the field for the Cobras with scores of 229 (+19) and 238 (+28).
Coker will now play the waiting game, as they wait and see if they will be selected for the 2010 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Golf Tournament at Wilson Country Club in Wilson, N.C. May 3-5. Only the top 10 teams from the region are selected to participate in the regional tournament. Prior to the conference championship the Cobras were ranked No. 14.
