HAMPTON, Ga. - The Coker College golf team sits in eighth place after the first day of competition at the 2010 Laker Collegiate Invitational at the Crystal Lake Golf Country Club. The Cobras shot a combined 24 over (600) in the first two rounds of play on Monday at the par 72, 7,107 yard course. Leading the field is Columbus State at six under (570), followed by University of North Alabama at two under (574) and Newberry College with an even par 576.

Jake Greer of North Alabama is the overall leader at six under (138), with Roberto Nasali-Roca of Lander, Matt Motes of Armstrong Atlantic and Gavin Hay of Carson-Newman all tied for second at five under (139).

Individually for the Cobras, Jake Murphy (Hamilton, N.J.) leads the way at two over (146), while Ben Conroy (Durham, Conn.) is at six over (150). Freshmen Josh Rogers (Lexington, S.C.) and Matt Kreider (Westlake, Ohio) shot eight over (152) and nine over (153) respectively, while John LaDow (Pottstown, Pa.) shot a +18 162.

Coker will complete the third and final round of the Laker Collegiate on Tuesday.
