MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Cobra men’s golf team fired a sizzling 290 (+2) in the second round of the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate tournament to capture the team championship.   Coker won the tournament by seven strokes over UNC-Pembroke.  Sophomore Jake Murphy (Hamilton, NJ) shot a 71 (-1) in the second round after shooting a 72 (E) in the first.  Murphy was the tournament’s individual winner and he took home the medalist honors by winning in a playoff.

Coker sophomore Ben Conroy (Durham, CT) tied for sixth in the tournament with a final tally of +2.  Junior Jared Crane (Greenville, SC) finished tenth and shot 74 in both rounds to finish at +4.  Junior Diego Polo (Guatemala City, Guatemala) shot a 77 in the first round, but finished strong with a 72 for a +5 in the tournament.  Freshman Matt Kreider (Westlake, OH) finished the tournament at +12.

The Cobras will now begin preparing for the NCAA Regional Preview in Greensboro, NC on October 18-19.
