Tommy Baker enters his fifth season as the leader of the Cobra men’s golf program.
The 2012-13 season was another successful one for the men. They completed 7-of-9 tournaments in the top-10 or better, earning top-5 finishes in five of those events. The Cobras had two third place finishes at teh Kiawah Island Invitational and the Jay Jennison Memorial. Coker finished the season ranked 23rd in teh Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Coaches' Poll. As a team they averaged 303.3 strokes per round, wiht a win-loss percentage of .577. Christopher Fuga and Nicklaus Kennedy both earned all-conference honors for the Cobras as well.
During his time the Cobras have captured 12 total tournament victories, while also achieving the lowest team scoring average in school history in 2009-10, with an average team score of 294.23 (+7). The Cobras also captured the 2012 Conference Carolinas Championship.
Baker joined the Coker golf program in January of 2008 after spending a year and a half at UNC-Pembroke as the Graduate Assistant Coach for the Men’s and Women’s teams.
Baker is a native of Fayetteville, N.C., and a 2006 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, where he received a B.S. with honors in Exercise in Sports Science. He was a four-time letterman for the Braves and was a four-time Peach Belt Conference Honor Roll selection.
Coach Baker earned his Masters of Arts in Sports Administration from UNC Pembroke.
