Cobras Ready to Take on Bulldogs

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's lacrosse team will host the Bulldogs of Wingate University in a non-conference game on Thursday (Mar. 14) at 3:30 p.m. at Byerly Park. Live stats will be available for the game at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras are coming off a tough 12-9 loss to Belmont Abbey on Tuesday (Mar. 12). Ryan Maurer, Mike Martiello and Timothy Smith scored two goals each for the Cobras in the loss. Maurer leads the team in goals (12), assists (8) and points (20). 

Wingate (1-7) enters Thursday's game in the middle of a six game losing streak. The Bulldogs most recent loss came on March 9, to Lenoir-Rhyne, 16-10. Derek Watts leads the way for the Bulldogs. He has scored 15 goals and tallied 15 assists for 30 points so far this season.

This game marks the first ever meeting between the Bulldogs and the Cobras on the lacrosse field. Next year they will face each other as conference opponents when Coker joins the South Atlantic Conference.
