Due West, SC- Erskine men's soccer, with the help of two late goals by junior Marc Huie, defeated
The Fleet came out of the locker room looking strong as they dominated possession for the majority of the first half. But despite this, they were unable to convert for a goal and allowed Coker's Matthew Jarrett to score late before the half, putting Coker up 1-0 going into halftime.
But the Fleet did not roll over and let the Cobras take home the victory. Instead their defense maintained their composure and the offense continued to aggressively pursue the goal, putting up a total of 12 shot attempts to Coker's mere 5. This aggressive play finally paid off in the 85th minute as junior Simon Morris hit a beautiful cross from the left side of the field that found the head of classmate Marc Huie who converted for a goal, tying the match at 1-1. With under 5 minutes to go the Fleet were determined to go for the win, and less than 2 minutes later they had their opportunity. Again, junior Marc Huie had made a surge for the goal and was fouled inside the goal keeper's box. This resulted in a penalty kick which Huie buried to give the Fleet a 2-1 advantage with only left in regulation. The Fleet held off the Cobras for the last couple minutes and were able to capture their second win of the season.
The tying and winning goals were Huie's first and second goals of the season. The Fleet out shot the Cobras 12-5 and had more corner kick opportunities (6-1). Erskine goal keeper Jimmy Turner and two dramatic saves on the night helping the winning cause, while Coker's Joel Tyson had 3 saves.
