Coker Suffers Heartbreaking Double OT Loss to Queens

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The regionally ranked No. 5 Coker men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 double overtime loss to regionally ranked No. 9 Queens University of Charlotte on Saturday (Sept. 28) night.

The loss, Coker's first in four overtime matches this season, drops the Cobras to 3-2-2 overall, and 2-1-1 in South Atlantic Conference action.

It took nearly 103 minutes of intense soccer action before the Royals cracked the Cobra defense and broke the stalemate.

In the first half of action, neither team was able to gain an advantage, as Queens fired off five shots, while Coker took four, two of which were on goal. The second half saw the Royals turn up the offensive attack, but goalkeeper Kyndle Cobb and the Cobra defense were up to the challenge. Cobb turned away two shots in the second half, three in the first overtime and another one in the second overtime for six total on the night.

Coker returns to the pitch on Wednesday (Oct. 2) for a non-conference match at home at 7 p.m. against Mount Olive College.
