    Coker College Softball Signs Nine Players

    Head softball coach David Hanna has signed nine players during the early signing period for the 2013-14 academic year.

    HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College softball coach David Hanna announced today that Ashley Hanna, Bethany Sevek, Angelina Santoro, Riley Morris, Tabitha Allen, Megan Strickland, Carley Bailey, Tayler Barcomb, and Jill Lewis have signed national letters of intent to play for the Cobras.

    "With a large senior class heading out next year, we were looking to bring in a significant freshman class, and that's what we did," said Hanna. "This is a talented bunch that provides great depth, and we are excited about getting them on campus next year."

    Hanna is a utility player from Lake City, S.C. She attends Johnsonville High School where she batted .311 with seven doubles, two triples and a team-high 22 RBIs in 2012. She also pitched 99 1-3 innings and led the team with a 4.52 ERA.

    Ashley is the daughter of David and Charlotte Hanna.

    Sevek, a pitcher and first baseman, hails from Carrollton, Ohio, where she attends Carrollton High School. She is a two-sport athlete and four-year letterwinner in softball and soccer. In softball, she's been named second team all-conference and second team all-district.

    Bethany is the daughter of Gayle and Kaaren Sevek.

    Santoro, a utility player, comes from Conway, S.C., and attends Carolina Forest High School. She's been a starter since seventh grade, earned all-state honorable mentions her sophomore and junior seasons, and was a member of the 4A state runner-up team in 2012. In addition, Santoro plays summer ball for the South Carolina Bandits.

    Angelina is the daughter of Mike and Angela Santoro.

    Morris, a resident of Murrls Inlet, S.C., is a utility player from Waccamaw High School. Her junior season she led the team in batting average and was an all-region and Toast of the Coast selection. She was also a member of the state championship team in 2010 and the state runner-up team in 2009.

    Riley is the daughter of Ryan and Stacy Morris and Tony and Christie Roberts.

    Allen, a pitcher, is from Palmetto High School in Williamston, S.C. She holds the school record for most wins by a pitcher, won a team MVP award, and was a member of the 2A state championship team in 2012. Allen is also a member of the South Carolina Bandits.

    Tabitha is the daughter of Clarence and Dorothy Allen.

    Strickland is a catcher from Georgetown High School in Georgetown, S.C. Her junior season she was a AAA all-region second team selection after batting .360 with five home runs and 10 stolen bases.

    Megan is the daughter of Kelley and Nannette Moore.

    A pitcher and utility player, Bailey is from Lancaster, S.C., and attends Buford High School. Her junior season she hit .439 and slugged .505. On the mound, Bailey had a 1.89 ERA with 162 strikeouts.

    Carley is the daughter of Ronnie and Dana Bailey.

    Barcomb, a shortstop and catcher, attends Dorchester Academy and is from St. George, S.C. During her junior season, Barcomb hit .671 with 15 doubles, 13 homers and 40 RBIs. She was named the SCISA Region II AA player of the year, and was to the HSSR all-state state and was an SCISA all-region selection.

    Tayler is the daughter of Peter and Karen Barcomb.

    Lewis hails from Tampa, Fla., and is a shortstop and second baseman from Steinbrenner High School. As a member of the Lutz Lightning Gold traveling team, hitting leadoff, Lewis batted .330 with an on-base percentage of .393.

    Jill is the daughter of Steve and Karen Lewis.
