MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Coker men's and women's golf teams finished in fifth and third place after round one of the Mount Olive Invitational on Monday (Apr. 8). The men shot a combined team score of 300, while the women finished with a score of 349.
Leading the way for the Coker men were Nicklaus Kennedy and Luke Coates who each finished with individual scores of 74. Christopher Fuga and Aaron Beebe both earned a 76, while Josh Clay rounded out the field with an 82.
Taylor Demby shot the lowest round for the women, after signing off on a scorecard of 84. Krista Thorpe and Mallory Thompkins were right behind with scores of 85 and 87, while Sara Allen landed a 93 on the day. Jessi McKenzie completed the fifth spot for the Cobras with a score of 101.
Both teams will be looking to close the gap on the first place team tomorrow on Tuesday (Apr. 9), during the final round of the tournament.
