ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson University women's soccer team snapped a five-match winless streak with a 1-0 victory over Coker in a Conference Carolinas match Saturday afternoon at Smethers Field.

The lone goal of the match came at the 60:24 mark when Whitney Branch pushed a pass down the middle of the field to Virginia Cates, who scored on a breakaway.

The goal was Cates' seventh of the season and her second game-winning goal.

Calle McCallister stopped one shot to earn the shutout in the AU net.

Anderson outshot Coker, 17-3.

The victory improves Anderson to 3-9-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the conference. The loss drops Coker to 3-10, 2-6.
