GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Coker women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Lander University in double-overtime on Saturday (Sept. 7) at Jeff May Complex.
The first 90-minutes wasn't enough time to settle the battle between these two evenly matched teams. Coker faced 18 shots in regulation, but Lizz Morris and the Cobra defense held strong to force overtime.
Defense was the story again in the first overtime, as both teams combined for only four shots. Each team had an opportunity to score but neither could connect.
In the second overtime, Lander capitalized on a penalty kick to score the games only goal to take the 1-0 victory.
Coker will continue their journey on the road as they travel to face USC Aiken on Tuesday (Sept. 10). The game is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start time.
