The singles matches were to follow and with Coker down 3-0 they needed a good start. This good start came from the number two for the Cobras Cassidy Spencer. Spencer came out playing some of her best tennis this year and won a close first set 6-4. Her opponent stepped up hitting some aggressive ground strokes and won the second set 6-2. Spencer then regrouped for the deciding tie break. It went back and forth early in the breaker with points going either way. Spencer then came up with some excellent shots to earn a 10-7 tie break victory. The match was looking a lot more promising for Coker with the remaining singles matches. However the number one for Coker Andrea Santos suffered a back injury and had to retire after her first set. The three four and five singles were all UNC Pembroke as they all won comfortably at all these positions. This ended the match and put Coker out of reach of victory.
Ashley Schaum did add another victory for Coker at number six singles. This was one of the closest matches for Ashley this season and she showed real fight and determination. Ashley played a couple of close sets both going long 5-7, 7-6. Again the match went to a deciding tie break and it went all the way to the wire. The match was poised at nine points all when Schaum played two great points to seal a victory 11-9. The final score ended with UNC Pembroke winning 7-2.
