Sumter, SC- The lady Cobras played at the CVAC tournament this past weekend in Sumter at the Palmetto Tennis Centre. The cobras went into the tournament as the fourth seed having had their best season in recent years. The first match saw the Cobras take on Queens University who they had a tough match with and eventually beat 5-4 in the regular season. Queens came out firing and took an early lead after the doubles. The Cobras were winning in two matches including the number two for the Cobras Rachel Lemar. However it wasn’t enough as Queens went on to win the match 5-2.

 

The Cobras next match was against Converse College again who they played close in the regular season. The cobras came out dominating in the doubles winning all three to put them in a great position to win the match. Rachel lemar and Cassidy Spencer soon won the match for the Cobras bringing in two quick wins in singles. The match ended 5-0 in favor of the Lady Cobras.

 

The last match saw the Cobras take on Anderson University. All the doubles matches were close however Anderson came out on top. The number three pair for the Cobras of Spencer and Crighton battled back from behind to win 9-7. The number two pair of Santos and Pace played well but lost 8-6. The singles were dominated by Anderson as they took the first three singles matches and won the match 5-2.

 

It has been great season for the Cobras as they finished fourth in the regular season which has been their highest position in recent years. They also finished 6th in the Conference tournament.
