HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Despite two great performances by Coker sophomore Alyssa Blanchard, the Lady Cobras fell to the Pfeiffer Lady Falcons in Conference Carolinas tennis, 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon. The loss brings the Lady Cobras record to 3-9 overall and 1-4 in the conference, while Pfeiffer improves to 6-2 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
Blanchard (Columbia, S.C.), this week’s Conference Carolinas Player of the Week, earned wins in both her doubles and singles matches. Along with doubles partner Stephanie Medley (Sumter, S.C.), Blanchard won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Blanchard then won at No. 1 singles 6-2, 7-6 (7-0).
Pfeiffer picked up straight set wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, along with two straight set wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles from Catie Thomas and Chelsi Haefele.
Coker returns to the courts on Sunday, when they host Queens University of Charlotte at 12:30 p.m., while Pfeiffer will continue their road play, traveling to Gardener-Webb University also on Saturday, for a 10:00 a.m. match.
