Cobras Cruise Past the Crusaders 8-1

BELMONT, N.C. – The Coker women's tennis team completed their 2012 regular season by cruising past the Belmont Abbey Crusaders, 8-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Coker took all three flights in doubles play with scores of 8-3, 8-1 and 8-3. The Cobras then won five of six singles matches; all five wins were straight set victories.

Alyssa Blanchard picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1; while Cora Berna earned a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 2. Stephanie Medley won at No. 3 with scores of 6-0, 6-1 and Kayla Meermans was victorious at No. 5 with scores of 6-0, 6-1. Brittanny Yando picked up Coker's final singles victory at No. 6 with scores of 6-2, 6-3.

The win improves the Cobra women to 7-4 Conference Carolinas play.

The Cobras will now wait to see who they will face in the Conference Carolinas Tennis Tournament April 20-22 at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.
