HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's volleyball team will play host to the Anderson University Trojans and the Newberry College Wolves in its first home and South Atlantic Conference matches of the 2013 season this weekend. The Cobras will take on the Trojans on Friday (Sept. 13) at 7 p.m. and they will play the Wolves on Saturday (Sept. 13) at 1 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast live online at www.cokercobras.com.
The women enter the weekend with an even 3-3 record. In their most recent match the Cobras lost a tough 3-1 decision to Barton College.
Taylor Willis has been the driving force behind the Coker offense so far this season. Through six matches the senior right-side hitter has 65 kills, 11 services aces and 10 blocks.
Anderson (0-4) comes to Hartsville after failing to pick up a win at the FSC/Terrace Hotel Classic, hosted by Florida Southern last weekend. Preseason All-SAC selection Shannon Gillespie led the Trojans with 52 kills, including a pair of double-digit efforts over the two-day tourney.
Newberry (4-0) enters the match riding a four-match winning streak. All four victories came during the Wolves season opening tournament at Francis Marion last weekend. Senior outside hitter and preseason All-SAC selection Samantha Parrish leads the Wolves attack with 56 kills, seven aces and 45 digs.
Tickets for both matches are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
