HARTSVILLE, SC – Junior David Green/Easley, SC finished in sixth place at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship Saturday morning in cross country. Green only missed a trip to the National Championship meet by three seconds.
The Coker men’s team placed seventh overall and Mars Hill took the team crown. Senior Katheryn Rayman/Columbia, SC and freshman Noelle Sharbono/Pembroke Pines, FL competed for the women as individuals. Sharbono finished 57th overall in a personal best time of 26:14, and Rayman completed the course in 27:25 for 73rd overall.
The top-five individuals qualified for the National Championship, held two weeks from now in Evansville, IN, but Green’s 33:12 was narrowly beaten by Catawba’s Ryan Willis in 33:09. Sophomore Nathan Hansen/Montgomery, AL followed in 27th place with a time of 34:42 and classmate Tyler Carroll/Birmingham, AL crossed next in 45th at 35:52.
Junior Alex Kornfeld/Greenville, SC placed 63rd in 36:40 and Jermaine Cooper/Irmo, SC ran a 37:11 to finish 72nd. The Cobras twin brothers came across next for CC, with Britt Means/Irmo, SC crossing in 37:40 (79th) and Blake Means/Irmo SC finishing in 39:11 (105).
