The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with them. This week we take a look at Stephen Scrivens and Tyler Staub, members of the men's soccer team.

One word that describes you: Indescribable
Name: Michael Tyler Staub
Sport: Men’s soccer
Hometown: Murrells Inlet, SC
Major: Political Science/Business Administration (double major)
Why did you choose Coker? I chose Coker because of the small, community atmosphere. The ability to know all of your classmates and teachers on a personal level has allowed me to be successful in all areas of my life. At Coker, you do not feel like just another student. You can tell that faculty and staff genuinely care about your success. It is this environment that has helped me thrive in my four years at Coker, and what will help me continue to thrive after I am gone.
What is your best memory at Coker (athletic related)? My best athletic memory would have to be my sophomore season. Men’s soccer won the Conference Carolinas’ regular season and tournament titles, and I was selected to the all-tournament team for my performance.
What is your best memory at Coker (non-athletic related)? My best memory from Coker would have to be presenting in the national competition with Enactus. The relationships that I have built within this organization, and the skills I have gained, will help me be successful in my future endeavors.
Which athletic team would you play on at Coker other than your own? I think it would be fun to play on the men’s volleyball team.

Favorite professor: There are too many great professors at Coker. It wouldn’t be right to choose just one.

Favorite sports team: I don’t have one.
Favorite color: Red
Favorite TV show: How I Met Your Mother
What is something people may not know about you? When I was 12, I was adopted by my stepfather. So now I have four names. Michael Tyler Coffey Staub.
Do you have a nickname? If so, how did you get it? Stubbs. When I was a freshman on the Coker men’s soccer team, there was already a Tyler on the team with my same initials. From Staub, came Stubbs, to distinguish us a part. The name stuck even after the other Tyler left the team. Now people on campus, who aren’t even on the team, have started to call me Stubbs.
