Taste of Coker Scheduled for Oct. 7

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College Athletic Department and Cobra Club will host the 8th Annual Taste of Coker from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7 at the Coker soccer fields. The event will cap Coker’s 2013 homecoming festivities.

“The Taste of Coker is a wonderful annual event not only for the athletic department, but for the community as well,” said Lynn Griffin, vice president of athletics and facilities. “Each year we have a fantastic set of cooks that deliver amazing food and entertainment. If you want a quality family atmosphere, this is the event to attend.”

Prices for this year’s event have changed. Tickets are $15 for single, $25 for couple and $40 for families. Kids under 10 are free with a paying adult.

Tickets can be purchased throughout Hartsville at the Greater Hartsville Chamber of Commerce, Brown and Coker Realty, and the Coker athletics office, located at 507 E. Carolina Ave.

During last year’s event, 35 cooks served over 600 people, showcasing a wide arrange of foods from chicken wings to desserts to multiple types of “bog.”

In addition to the food, the Taste of Coker also offers a wide variety of activities. Participants will enjoy live music, athletic demonstrations from various Coker athletic programs, and have an opportunity to meet coaches, players and staff throughout the evening.
