Home Runs Lift Coker Past Mount Olive in Extra Innings

HARTSVILLE- The Coker Cobras hit six home runs as a team, including a game winning solo shot by short stop Jaclin Poole in the top of the eighth inning, as the #7 seed Coker upset the #2 seed Mount Olive, 11-10.

Poole was 3-for-5 with two homers, two RBIs and two runs scored. Sydney Weatherford went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs, while Gina Easler, Stacy Burr and Bryant McLendon each sent one deep over the fence for the Cobras.

Jordan Atkinson earned the win for the Cobras. She allowed two runs on three hits in two innings of work.

Mount Olive had a productive day at the plate as well, with four Trojans combining for five home runs. Robin Kennedy was 3-for-5 with two home runs and four runs batted in, while Jennifer Jones was 3-for-4 with a home run and an RBI. Katie Devenuto was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs and Christie Wright was 1-for-4 with a homer.

Carly White was saddled with the loss, allowing two runs on four hits in two innings in the circle.

The Cobras advance to play King College on Friday evening, while Mount Olive drops to the losers bracket game against Limestone College.
