Hartsville, SC- Coker College senior pitcher, Brad Boob/Charlotte, NC, was the starting pitcher for the Altamonte Springs Snappers in the Championship Game of the Florida Collegiate Summer League on Sunday at the Tampa Bay Devil Rays Tropicana Field in Tampa, FL.

“It was a dream come true,” said Boob. “I really felt like I was in the majors, warming up in their outfield and then throwing in the bullpen. When I took the mound for the first time I just took a minute to look around the whole field and take it all in. It was a thrilling experience that I will always remember.”

Boob pitched three innings for the Snappers, who eventually lost the championship to the Leesburg Lightning 6-0, allowing just one run on four hits, while striking out two. “I struck out the first batter of the game, which really pumped me up and the only reason I was pulled was to allow other pitchers a chance to throw off the big league mound.”

For the summer, Boob had a 1-5 record, with nine appearances, six starts and one complete game. He pitched 35.2 innings, with a 4.04 ERA, while striking out 15 and only walking six.

Boob, the ace of the Cobra pitching staff, will hopefully get many more chances to pitch in major league stadiums once he graduates from Coker next May. But for now he is just excited with the experience he has had this summer and he is looking forward to a successful senior season with the Cobras.
