Coker Baseball Looking to Slow Claflin

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – After a week of rain and snow, the Coker baseball team will return to the field on Wednesday (Feb. 20) for a home game against the Claflin University Panthers. Live coverage of the game will be available at

The Cobras (6-3) enter the game regionally ranked No. 10 according to Wednesday's game will be their first time on the field in 10 days. The last time the Cobras played was on Feb. 10, a 1-0 loss to Anderson.

As a team Coker is batting .303 and scoring just over 8.5 runs-per-game. Senior Keith Wolf and juniors Fico Kondla and Zach Loraine are the leading hitters. Wolf has a .423 average with three doubles, nine runs scored and a team leading eight stolen bases. Fondla leads the team with a .429 batting average along with four doubles and eight RBIs. Loraine is also hitting at a  .423 clip with a homer, 11 RBIs, 10 runs scored and three triples.

On the mound, the Cobras have a 4.48 ERA with 50 strikeouts. Senior Dan Meyer (1-1) leads the staff with a 2.35 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 15.1 innings on the hill. Junior Hunter Ressler (1-1) is close behind Meyer with a 2.53 ERA in 10.2 innings of work.

Claflin (3-5) is coming off back-to-back wins over Davis & Elkins. The Panthers won 9-3 and 5-3. Senior first baseman Jasper Brown has been the offensive leader, posting a .400 average so far this season.
