HIGH POINT, N.C. - The Coker women’s golf team has been picked seventh in the 2011 Conference Carolinas Preseason Coaches’ Poll released on Thursday.

In their first year of existence, Coach Tommy Baker and the Cobra women are hopeful they can surpass the predictions of the coaches in Conference Carolinas.

The Cobras had a successful fall campaign, finishing in the top 15 in all three of their tournaments, while also grabbing a top 10 finish at the Tusculum Invitational in September. A very young squad, the Cobras have one senior, Megan Tingen, and a very talented group of underclassmen. Freshman Natalie Falco had the lowest stroke average for the fall at 89 for the Cobras.

Belmont Abbey received the top spot in the poll followed by Pfeiffer University in second and Queens University of Charlotte in third.

The Cobra women will take to the links for the first championship season starting on Feb. 5-6 at the Kiawah Island Invitational.
