PINEHURST, N.C. – The Coker women’s golf team finished play at the 2011 Pinehurst Challenge at National Golf Club with a Top 15 finish at the 5835 yard Jack Nicklaus-designed course. The UNC Pembroke Braves captured the team championship in a play-off with St. Leo University and Newberry College placed third.
Krista Thopre (Bracebridge, Ontario) led the Cobras shooting 88-82, while Bobbi McKenzie (McBee, S.C.) fired rounds of 98-88 during the two day event. Natalie Falco (Stoughton, Mass.) and Megan Tingen (Hartsville, S.C.) rounded out the field for the Cobras shooting 92-95 and 100-98 respectively.
The Cobras will be back on the course on March 26 when they take on Wingate University in a dual match in Marshville, N.C.
