Cobras Return Home for Weekend Tilts against Royals and Indians

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – After a four-match road trip, the Coker women's volleyball team will return to the friendly confines of the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium when they take on the Royals of Queens University of Charlotte, and the Catawba College Indians this weekend. The Cobras will face the Royals at 7 p.m. Friday (Oct. 25), and the Indians at 1 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 26). Both matches will be broadcast live online at

Coker has been led all season by senior Taylor Willis and junior Samantha Celek. Willis leads the team with 134 kills, while Celek has dished out 408 assists – good for 11th in the conference.

Coming off a 3-1 loss to Wingate University, Queens enter the contest at 7-9 overall and 7-7 in SAC competition. The Royals are led by Keri Kemp who has amassed 238 kills on the season.

The Indians are currently on a three-match losing streak and sport a 3-12 record, with a 3-10 mark in conference play. The 109 kills of Haley Lanier leads the offense for Catawba. The Indians will face the Bulldogs of Wingate on Friday (Oct. 25) before heading to Hartsville Saturday for their matchup with the Cobras.

Tickets for both matches are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students. Friday night the Cobras will host their "Dig Pink" event benefit breast cancer awareness. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game to support breast cancer awareness.
