Cobra Spotlight- Julian Nelson, Men's Basketball

The "Cobra Spotlight" is a weekly highlight of a student-athlete at Coker College. Each week we take a different athlete from a different sport and display some facets to get more familiar with them. This week we take a look at Julian Nelson, a member of the men's basketball team.

Name: Julian Parker Nelson

Sport: Men’s basketball

Position: Shooting guard/small forward

Hometown: Irmo, S.C.

Year: Junior

Major: Physical education and sport studies with a concentration in exercise science

Why did you choose Coker? I chose Coker because the campus fit the size that I was looking for - not too big or small.  Also, Coker is one of the best schools in the Southeast and an education from here would help me in the long run.  The most important reason was basketball and my coach, Dan Schmotzer, made a great impression on me.

What is your best memory at Coker (non-athletic related)? Bandfest

Favorite professor: Don Mac (Spanish professor)

Plans after graduation: Continue my basketball career and to be a physical therapist

Favorite type of music: Hip-hop

Favorite food: Chicken wings

Favorite professional sports team: Los Angeles Lakers

Favorite color: Blue

Favorite TV show: It is a tie between My Wife and Kids and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Most prized possession: My autographed Shaq shoes

What is something people may not know about you? I love to go fishing in my free time. After season and with my dad during the summer
