HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Courtney Czentnar drove in two runs to lead the No. 2 seed Anderson Trojans to a 3-2 win over the No. 7 seed Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters in an elimination game on Saturday (Apr. 25) at the 2015 South Atlantic Conference Softball Championship.
A solo home run by Cailah Niles in the first inning and a solo homer by Czentnar in the second gave the Trojans a 2-0 lead. LMU tied the game in the top of the sixth with a solo home run by Megan Tice and an RBI single by Jaclyn Cokeroft. Czentnar then struck again in the bottom of the seventh with the game-wining RBI single to give the Trojans the 3-2 win.
Lauren Rudesheim (17-6) picked up the complete game victory. She allowed two runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
Amanda Snow was tagged with the loss in relief. She gave up just one run on three hits in three and two-thirds innings of work.
Czentnar finished the day going 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored, Niles was 2-for-2 with a homer, an RBI and two runs scored for Anderson.
Tice who was 1-for-3 with a home run, an RBI, and a run scored led Lincoln Memorial, while Cokeroft was 1-for-1 with an RBI.
The Trojans move on to play the No. 5 seed Newberry in another elimination game on Saturday (Apr. 25) at 3:30 p.m. Lincoln Memorial’s season comes to an end with the loss. They finish the season with a record of 24-24.
