Tim Halverson- Men's Golf '97
Halverson graduated from Coker in 1997 and was one of the first
members of the Cobra men’s golf team. Upon graduating, Tim
started working for Strong Funds in 1997 in Milwaukee,
Wisc.
Currently, he is the Regional Director for Russell Investments in Northern Illinois. He holds his CIMA (Certified Investment Management Analyst) and CPWA (Certified Private Welath Advisor) designations.
In 2000 he married his wife Julie and in 2007 they adopted their son, FaRan, from China. They currently live in Oak Creek, Wisc.
Halverson is a member of the Coker Alumni Board and he tries to get back to Hartsville as often as possible.
Dr. Phillip Dowdy- Men's Tennis '99
A 1999 graduate of Coker, Dr. Phillip Dowdy was a leader on the
Cobra men’s tennis team. He was named Coker’s Academic
Athlete of the Year in ’99 and was a two-time Academic
All-Conference Team member. Additionally, Dowdy was selected
as the Outstanding Student of the Year from the Department of
Science and Mathematics in ’99 and was president of the Coker
College Union from ’97 to ’99.
After Coker, Dowdy earned his doctorate of podiatric medicine from Barry University School of Graduate Medical Sciences in 2006. In 2001, Barry awarded him a podiatric merit scholarship. Prior to going into medicine, Dowdy was a successful MBA student at Marshall University.
Dowdy completed his residency in podiatric medicine and surgery at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital in Michigan. In addition to his work at the hospital, Dowdy routinely volunteered at a clinic for the working uninsured and provided free foot screenings at health fairs.
The Henry Ford Hospital presented Dowdy with its Outstanding Humanitarian Service Award in 2006 for his dedication and commitment to his profession. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association.
Currently, Dowdy is a doctor of podiatry specializing in foot and ankle surgery, foot and ankle sports medicine, and diabetic wound care at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Ashland, Ky.
