Coker’s Kondla, Loraine Sweep Weekly Conference Awards

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College baseball players Fico Kondla and Zach Loraine have been named the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, the league announced today.

Kondla went on a tear at the plate last week, batting .615 with a home run, two doubles and five RBIs. For the season, Kondla, a first baseman, is hitting .439 with a home run, six doubles and 17 RBIs. He's scored 17 runs and swiped eight bases.

Kondla, a junior from Miami, Fla., is a physical education and sport studies major with a concentration in exercise science at Coker. He is the son of Richard and Emelina Kondla.

Loraine notched two saves in 5 2-3 innings of work against Claflin University and King College. He didn't allow a run, struck out eight and gave up just two hits. On the season Loraine is 1-0 with six saves. He has a 0.93 ERA in 19 1-3 innings with 23 strikeouts.

A junior from Lake St. Louis, Mo., Loraine is a physical education and sport studies major with a concentration in exercise science at Coker. He is the son of Lance and Eva Loraine.

Coker went 3-1 last week, taking two-of-three from King College and defeating Claflin University in a non-conference game. The Cobras, who are 14-7 overall and 6-3 in the conference, return to the diamond Friday and Saturday at home against Pfeiffer University.
