Hartsville, SC- Coker’s two game winning streak came to an end on Saturday afternoon as the Cobras fell to CVAC foe Queens University 72-58. The Cobras (3-6, 0-3 CVAC) had an off night shooting, firing just 37.9 percent from the floor, while the Royals (7-3, 3-0 CVAC) shot 54.3 percent in the game.

 

Coker, who going into the game was ranked first in the nation in three-pointers per game, had a cold hand tonight shooting just 9-for-29 for beyond the arc. On the other side of the court, Queens was hot inside the paint and dominated the boards with 36 total rebounds, compared to Coker’s 26.

 

Leading the Coker offense was Lukas Varga, with 16 points, 12 coming in the second half. Varga also added three assists in the game. Jason Fulwood finished the day with 12 points, while Ryan Fulwood had 11 points and two rebounds.

 

For Queens, Chris Jones led all scorers with 21 points and nine rebounds, while John Thompson gave the Royals 17 points and seven rebounds. Darnell Evans was the third Royal in double figures, with 14 points and four rebounds.

 

Coker now prepares for their next game on Monday, January 8, as they travel to play the Erskine College Flying Fleet. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
