Hartsville, SC- Mason Ambler (Atlanta, GA) and Josh Poston (Myrtle Beach, SC) combined for 20 points in the second half, most of them coming in a span of mere minutes, to lead the Cobras to their first win of the season over Anderson 61-50 on Monday night. The win improves Coker to 1-2 overall, and 1-0 in Conference Carolinas play, while the Trojans fall to 0-2 overall, and 0-1 in the conference.
Poston’s three 3-pointers late in the second half gave Coker the momentum needed to defeat the Trojans, while Ambler’s basket with 11:44 left in the game gave Coker a 36-35 lead and the Cobras never looked back. It was Ambler who put the nail in the coffin with a monster dunk with just 50 seconds left in the game.
Poston finished the game with 14 points and four rebounds, while Ambler had 14 points and nine rebounds. JC Hafner (Jefferson, MD) had 11 points.
Leading Anderson was Brandon Young (Belmont, NC) with a game high 16 points, while Kevis Cornwell (York, SC) had eight points.
