Former Coker University Baseball player Jimmy Rosengrant is one of few to earn the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Former Coker University Baseball player Jimmy Rosengrant '25 has been announced as a 2026 recipient of the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, the NCAA National Office recently announced.
Rosengrant is one of just 42 Spring student-athletes, across all three NCAA divisions to be awarded $10,000 as part of the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship program.
Each year, the NCAA awards 126 postgraduate scholarships to student-athletes who have completed their final year of athletics competition. The scholarships are distributed three times annually — in the fall, winter and spring — providing 21 scholarships each to men and women per season. The award is a one-time, nonrenewable scholarship intended to support graduate study at an accredited institution.
"I can't thank Coker University and the NCAA enough for giving me this opportunity," said Rosengrant. "It's a special feeling being able to reach out to my previous professors, staff, and coaches a year after graduating and immediately receiving the support I needed to win this scholarship. I'm attending VCOM-Bluefield in Spartanburg, SC to pursue a Masters of Health Science in Anesthesia to become a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant. Thank you again to Coker University for the opportunity to be a student-athlete for 4 years and to the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Program and its committee for this very generous award that will help me pursue my future career."
Rosengrant was a four-year member of the Coker Baseball team from Boiling Springs, S.C.. He was a Biology major, while also minoring in Psychology and Chemistry, completing his undergraduate studies with a perfect 4.0 GPA. He was a recipient of the Alumni Cup at Coker's 2025 Spring Commencement, which is awarded annually to the top honor graduate. He was a member of the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll each of his four years, while also earning the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award on three occasions. He was the recipient of the Dr. Jim Lemke Scholar Student-Athlete Award at Coker Athletics's annual FANG Awards, an award that goes to the top academic-achieving senior student-athlete.
"Jimmy was one of the hardest-working and most dedicated student-athletes I've had the privilege of coaching," said Head Baseball Coach Fico Kondla. "Whether it was on the baseball field or in the classroom, he consistently gave his full effort, led by example and pushed himself to be better every day. His commitment, work ethic and determination set him apart and earned the respect of everyone around him. There is no one more deserving of this scholarship."
These student-athletes, representing spring sports across all three NCAA divisions, have demonstrated outstanding academic achievements, athletic excellence and leadership within their communities.
"I can't think of a more deserving individual," said Whitney Cranford, Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology and Faculty Athletic Representative at Coker University. "Jimmy is highly intelligent, and he puts every ounce of energy, passion, and dedication into any task that is in front of him. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for him."
Established in 1964, the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship program promotes and encourages graduate education by recognizing the Association's most accomplished student-athletes. The program evaluates candidates on their athletic and academic achievements, campus involvement, community service and leadership. An equitable selection process ensures that all nominees, regardless of sport, division, gender or race, are considered fairly.
