HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Last week members of the Coker College baseball team took time out of their busy schedule to be a part of American Education Week at North Hartsville Elementary School. The players read to students in first through fourth grade and talked with them about the importance of getting a good education.
“It was a fantastic and rewarding experience to give back to the community,” said head coach Dave Schmotzer. “Our players enjoy interacting with the students and we love being a part of this day.”
American Education Week is an annual event held at schools nationwide. Sponsored by the National Education Association (NEA), American Education Week celebrated its 90th Anniversary this year.
Coker student-athletes have been participating in North Hartsville’s American Education Week festivities for the past four years.
