Bio

Barber helped the Cobras to six wins during the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season, and also recieved votes in the USILA Division II national poll. Barber coached Joe Venazio to a pair of South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors (Feb. 3 and Feb. 24), before Venazio was named to the USILA D2 Team of the Week on Feb. 25. Under Barber's guidance, Venazio recorded his 100th career point on Mar. 5 at Montevallo, before Ethan Irizarry became the second player during the season to hit the century mark against No. 12 Queens. Academically, Men's Lacrosse posted a 3.21 team GPA for the year and landed nine players on the 2019-20 SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll. 

Joe Barber joined the Coker University men's lacrosse staff in August 2019. 

Barber comes to Hartsville after a four-year playing career at fellow South Atlantic Conference institution Catawba College. He was a four-year starter for the Indians, and was a Second Team All-Conference selection as a junior. As a senior, he was a First Team All-Conference selection and a finalist for SAC Player of the Year. He was also a participant in the DI/DII USILA All-Star Game. He was also a member of the Catawba men's track and field team during the 2016-17 school year. Away from the field, he was a member of the Sports and Health Sciences Society as well as the Catawba College gospel choir. 

The 2019 Catawba graduate and Upper Marlboro, Md. native holds a Bachelor's of Science in exercise science, and is currently pursuing a Master's of Science in college athletic administration at Coker.
