Bio
Mikayla Cheney joined the Coker University field hockey staff in August 2021.
Cheney comes to Coker after a stellar playing career at Shippensburg University, where she was a part of three NCAA Division II national championship teams. During her Raider career, she was a three-time All-Conference selection (2017 Second Team, 2018, 2019 First Team), a two-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-American (2018, 2019), Team Captain during the 2019 season and a three-time SU Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Year (2017, 2018 and 2019). During her career she also worked numerous youth camps, and also participated in the USA Field Hockey Futures program (2020). In addition, Cheney helped SU Athletics set up a Make-A-Wish Foundation reveal in October of 2018. She also participated in Make A Difference Day for three separate NCAA Division II Final Four events (2016, 2017 and 2018).
The Lancaster, Pa. native graduated from Shippensburg with a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Athletic Coaching, and is pursuing her Master's of Science in College Athletic Administration at Coker.
