ROCK HILL, S.C. – Luke Alford, a junior outfielder for the Coker University baseball team, earned third team All-South Atlantic Conference honors, the league announced Thursday afternoon.
A native of Pawleys Island, Alford battled through an early-season injury and didn't enter the lineup until early March, but quickly made his presence felt. Over 28 games, he posted a .336 batting average with 37 hits, 31 RBIs, 12 doubles and seven home runs, while compiling an impressive .636 slugging percentage.
Alford now helps lead the Cobras into the SAC Tournament, which begins Friday. Coker, the eight seed, will take on top-seeded Catawba at 2 p.m. at Catawba's Newman Park in Salisbury, N.C.
